The Cycle of Goodwill
Ever wonder how Goodwill works? This is the process for most Goodwill stores:
Items are donated. Workers sift through donated items to make sure they do not have issues such as mildew or foul odors. They generally stay on a Goodwill rack for 4 weeks.
After that, they are sent to a Goodwill Outlet. At Goodwill Outlet stores, you can buy clothing by the pound.
Next, items are sent to Goodwill Auctions where lots of clothing items are bid on by individuals. Some clothing items never make it to these types of stores. Instead, they are sold within the United States or to other countries to be used as rags, insulation, etc.
5% of the donated clothes end up in landfills. Thankfully, as an eBay seller, you help keep these items out of the landfills. Now, pat yourself on the back.
