Using Sell Similar to Boost eBay Sales

One of the things I've learned about boosting your eBay sales is that you should choose sell similar and not relist after your items go to your unsold folder. You may be asking what the benefit of doing this is. The listing will appear as new if you use sell similar. You get the new listing banner on your listing when you first relist in search results 24 hours or so. Additionally, for 30 days, your item will rise rather than sink in search results which is what the old listing was doing after 30 days. The more views an old listing has with no sales the further and faster it sinks. The search engine, Cassini, likes new rather than stale listings. Having new listings also shows eBay that you are an active store. I also use this feature on the weekends when I don't generally list. I go to my unsolds and grab a few of them so eBay thinks I'm listing every day which is important.

I always review the listing and the other similar items in Solds and Completed and tweak the listing. Adjust the price, shipping, etc. if it is not selling. To do this, Auto Relist can't be turned on and you can't use Good Til Cancelled. Let your listings expire every 30 days and instead of relisting, choose sell similar. After you get it listed, go back in your unsold and delete the listing. It's important to remember that when you relist an item it automatically disappears from unsolds but it does not disappear when you use sell similar. Not deleting them from unsold is exactly how you can inadvertently end up with duplicate listings if not careful!

You might be thinking this sounds impossible if you have 500+ listings. Most of us list only a few listings a day so that would be a small block of listings that are ending in 30 days and not all 500. When you look at it that way, it is not as overwhelming. And it's not hard to do. All of your information as well as you pictures are there. It's just basically hitting a few buttons and remembering to delete it in unsold.

When trying to decide if this is for you, you might also want to look at the cons. If you pin your items on Pinterest, the link to your item is lost if you choose sell similar instead of relist. You can always pin the new listing though. Choosing sell similar loses your watchers. Relisting does not. If you have several watchers, just relist. They will get a notification that your item is up for sale again.

Which option do you use? Sell Similar, Good Til Cancelled, or Relist?
