Package Being Returned for Insufficient Address - Who Pays to Reship?

Have you ever had a package on it's way back to you and you find out the buyer was missing part of their address or had moved? I'm always relieved to find out I didn't make a mistake that will cost me money, but who is responsible for paying to have it reshipped with the correct address? Are their any other options?

It's NOT your fault that their address was incorrect. Some sellers will eat the shipping just to make a customer happy but you don't have to do so. Depending on how much profit you made on the sale, you might offer to split the cost of shipping with the buyer. If the buyer causes a big stink about having to pay shipping again, you can always get eBay involved and they will stand behind you. Some buyers are clueless and don't realize the cost of running a business and some are just out to get what they can get at little cost to them.

But, before you worry about the cost of reshipping, tell the buyer to contact their Post Office and see if they will hold it for them. It normally sits at their Post Office for a day or two so if you catch this early, you might can save your buyer and yourself a little headache. If it's too late for that, let your buyer know that when it gets back to you, you will send them a Paypal invoice for the shipping and resend once paid. If you need to know how to send an invoice, Paypal has instructions just for you.

Have you ever had a package returned? How did you handle the situation with your buyer?
